On Nov. 23 China’s robotic Chang’e 5 mission launched from Wenchang Space Launch Center in Hainan province.  Chang’e-5 Mission Launches to Collect Lunar Samples – the first attempt by any country in more than 40 years since mankind’s last lunar mission in 1976. It is the most ambitious mission of China’s lunar programme.

The Chang’e missions are named for a moon goddess in Chinese folklore. China is also planning a robotic station on the moon’s south pole before a possible landing on the moon with Chinese astronauts in the 2030s. That’s one small step for China, one giant leap for mankind. Probably some day in the future, maybe before 2100, people will be alive in Moon.
